Trying to figure out a safe way to get my large grill (around 200 lbs) up three porch steps without risking a disaster. I'm considering building a longer ramp for a gentler incline, but I'm not sure what materials or setup would give enough stability and grip. whether it's better to go with wood, metal, or even prefab options. Would love to hear what's worked (or not worked) for you.
thanks in advance—my back and my grill thank you!

For hauling a delicate but heavy ceramic grill up steps without a crack up, a longer ramp made of sturdy wood with good traction is key and take it slow like you're carrying eggs. My neighbor, a big Green Egg fan, used wide, braced planks with rubber on top to move his, said it was the only way he'd trust doing it himself. How wide are your steps and how much space do you have for a gradual ramp? You really don't want that thing tipping.

Surely a wooden ramp with non-slip strips will do the trick, as they're veryyy easy to build. But then again, it is still up to you. Metal ramps are ok as long as you add grip tape. But if it's up to use here, wood is the better option for stability and traction.

I think it's a 4 man job, so as long as you're carefull you won't need to worry too much about overcomplicating the process. It's just 3 steps

Curious to know what worked for you?
My cousins did something similar with their heavy smoker.
They built a long wooden ramp using two pressure-treated 2x12s, about 8ft long.
They screwed it to the top of their deck, I think temporarily, and they also screwed down strips on an old rubber mat.
One person was pulling and guiding from the top and two others pushed from the bottom.
It wasn't fast but it got the job done and we enjoyed a few BBQ nights together!

Moving large items safely requires solid support and a good grip, teamwork is key to keeping everything under control. I'm really glad you had some great BBQ nights together
