Any tips for using GrillGrates on a Vision Kamado?

I've noticed that some people just place standard GrillGrates onto a Vision Kamado and go with it, that generally works pretty well, though the fit can be a bit snug depending on the specific model you have. Have you measured your grate area yet? It could be a good idea to check the sizes before you get a set.

@XeroM_ Great to hear and thank you for the information. I was hoping it would be a simple drop in solution. Good to know that it's so cut and dried and that they work well for you right out of the box.

@EmberExpert That's a word to the wise. I haven't measured my grate area yet. I will break out the tape measure before I pull the trigger on a set just to be safe.

Helpful tip: Leave some space around the edges for some airflow and flip one panel upside down so you can have a flat top sear zone. For steaks and burgers this is the ultimate tip, leaving them juicy and with some killer grill marks. :)

I followed everyone's advice, measured the grill and the standard grates arrived about 2 wks ago. You guys were right, they create some amazing sear marks and the steaks I made last weekend were out of this world.

That's a great point about the grease. I did notice fewer flare-ups on my last cook. I appreciate the heads-up on the cleaning. I haven't gotten to the 'paying taxes' part of the experience yet. Now I know what to expect!

i assume the grill grates are easily removable (have never seen or used them). if so, and if you have a gas grill, fire up the gas grill to max heat and put the grill grates to be cleaned on the gas grill grate and close the lid. the crud will burn off after a while and you can easily scrape the grate clean with grill brush.

Thanks for suggesting a cleaning method. Using a gas grill for a burnoff is an interesting idea. I can get the kamado hot enough to get the same result.
